About the Clock Project

The idea for the clock project started in July of 2004 when I was staffed in Edinburgh for a project. A friend of mine was participating in a teaching program in London and decided to come up to visit before she had to fly back to the USA. As we were walking around one evening, she commented that she loved taking pictures of all of the beautiful churches. I agreed and then I mentioned how funny it was that many of the churches had clocks and therefore I had a whole collection of random clocks.

That is when the crazy idea of collecting a different clock face for every minute of the day came to me. I created a rudimentary site to display the clocks but quickly realized that it would take me a very long time to collect all of the images that I wanted. I also learned fairly quickly that I wanted more then just the face, but the entire scene.

Finally, we come to the current version of the Clock Project. The truth is that I am making changes on a fairly regular basis, as time permits, to make the entire experience better. When you consider that I need at minimum 720 pictures of clocks (ideally all 1440) and I would like to represented a global view you can understand why I want everyone in the world to pitch in.

Thanks,
